About the project

Center for North American Studies

CZ.1.07/2.2.00/15.0188

Part of the operational program "Education for Competitiveness"

Focus of the project

Innovation in the philological study of English, French, and Spanish through a region-based integration - increasingly relevant due to the fast contemporary changes in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. The coordinated creation of forty new courses (including an e-learning platform) by a multidepartmental team enables a modularization of research and increases the career prospects of graduates within the departmental specialization - not only in the field of cultural studies but in translation and other fields.

Aims of the project

The Center for North American Studies offers more than forty subjects to the students of English, French, and Spanish language and literature - dealing with cultural developments throughout the continent, from Mexico to Canada. Through scholarships and expert help, it supports the work of selected doctoral dissertations and MA theses focused on issues related to the North American continent. Furthermore, it facilitates the contacts with foreign experts and partner institutions and enriches the available sources about North American studies in the main library of the Faculty of Arts.

The Center for North American studies was created thanks to the support of the EU sponsored operational program "Education for competitiveness".
